Solve x^2 = 4(x – 3)^2

Expanding and simplifying the right hand side: x2=4(x-3)(x-3)=4(x2-6x+9)=4x2-24x+36 Deducting 'x2' from both sides: 0=3x2-24x+36 Dividing by 3 and factorising: 0=x2-8x+12=(x-6)(x-2) Therefore solving: x=2 or x=6
