A circular table top has diameter 140 cm. The volume of the table top is 17,150π cmᶟ. Calculate the thickness of the table top

The table is a cylinder so we'll need to use the equation for this shape: A = πr2h

We're looking for the thickness of the table (which is the height) so let's rearrange this equation to make h the subject

Dividing by πr2 gives us h = A / πr2

Plugging in the information we know gives us: h = 17,150π / 702π

We could just put this into the calculator like this but notice the πs cancel giving us: h = 17,150 / 702

Therefore the height (or thickness) of the table  = 3.5cm
