Describe the difference between the function of a receptor and the function of an effector.

receptors detect a changes in the enviroment and effectors allow a response to be made. an example of this would be the jerk reflex when accidentally touching something thats hot. temperature receptors in the fingers will send an impulse to the central nervous system, the impulse will then travel to an effector that will bring about a response e.g the contraction of a muscle that pulls the hand away from the heat source
