What is a radian?

A radian is the angle in a segment that gives an arc length of 1 radius. This is another way to measure angles instead of degrees. As the circumference of a circle is 2pir, we have 2pi radiuses in the circumference. In terms of angles, this means that in 360 degrees we have 2pi radians, so we can use this to solve that 1 radian = 180/pi.

A 1kg mass is launched from the ground into the air at an angle of 30 degrees to the horizontal and with initial speed 25 ms^-1. Assuming negligible air resistance, how far from the starting point will the mass travel before it hits the ground?

Two forces P and Q act on a particle. The force P has magnitude 7 N and acts due north. The resultant of P and Q is a force of magnitude 10 N acting in a direction with bearing 120°. Find the magnitude of Q and the bearing of Q.
