How do I know which method of diffirentiation to use?

The main methods of differentiation you need to know at A level are the chain rule, the product rule and the quotient rule.

The chain rule should be used when the eqation is a function of a function. E.g. y=x(sinx)

The product rule should be used when the eqation is a product of 2 things E.g. y=x4ln(x)

The quotient rule should be used when the equation is a fraction. E.g. y=(2x+1)(4x2-1)

How do I find the equation of the normal to the curve y=x^2 at the point (x1,y1)? Where x1=2 and y1=4 .

Find the turning points of the curve y = 3x^4 - 8x^3 -3

Differentiate the following: y=(7x^2+2)sinx

Relative to a fixed origin O, the point A has position vector (8i+13j-2k), the point B has position vector (10i+14j-4k). A line l passes through points A and B. Find the vector equation of this line.
