Describe how living plants are involved in the carbon cycle.

Think about what carbon is used for, and also what plants are required for.
Plants take in carbon dioxide from their surroundings, which enables them to undergo photosynthesis. At night, plants respire, releasing this carbon dioxide. This cycle stores carbon as carbohydrates, proteins and fats, which are then passed into animals that eat these plants.
