To make 12 cakes you need 100g of butter, 6 eggs, and 40g of sugar. How many cakes can you make with 450g of butter, 15 eggs, and 110g of sugar?

To work this out you can either work out the amount of an ingredient needed for one cake then divide the amount you have by this or you can work out how many times the amount needed for 12 cakes goes into the amount you have then multiply this by 12. (Although these are effectively the same thing it can help thinking about them different ways.) (450/100)x12 =54(15/6)x12=30(110/40)x12=33The answer is therefore 30 because you cannot make any cakes without any ingredients.
