How does cholinergis transmission occur at a neuromuscular junction?

The presynaptic terminal is invaded by an action potential whihc causes an influx of calcium ions. The calcium ions then cause the vesicles cointaining acetylcholine to fuse with the presynaptic membrane and release acetylcholine into the synaptic cleft. Acetylcholine then diffuses across the synaptic cleft and binds to the cholinergic receptors on the post synaptic membrane.
