How to conjugate the subjunctive form of regular verbs.

When starting with the subjunctive, it is important to think of it as a mood and not as a tense, as you would with other tenses such as the conditional or past tenses. In French, the subjunctive is used to express feelings of desire or doubt, as well as to give orders or express judgments.
To find the subjunctive form of all regular -er, -ir, and -re verbs, you must follow these three steps:1) Take the ils/elles present tense form of the verb ie. aimer- ils aiment.2) Remove the -ent to find the subjunctive stem.3) Add the appropriate ending to the stem. These endings are as follows:je -e// tu -es// il/elle/on -e// nous -ions// vous -iez// ils/elles -ent
So, going back to the verb aimer, conjugated in the subjunctive this would give you:j'aime// tu aimes// il aime// nous aimions// vous aimiez// ils aiment.
