Whilst the Labour Party's struggle to find an identity certainly exacerbated Conservative political dominance, in the years 1951-64, it was not the primary reason for the Conservative Party's success. Ultimately, the modernising policies of Harold Mac Millian, having inherited a post-war economic boom, were more influential in ensuring the Party's dominance throughout these years.
