What is the difference between an Alkane and Alkene?

Both alkanes and alkenes are examples of hydrocarbons, which mean they are made up of hydrogen and carbon only.Alkanes however are 'saturated' and have no double bonds between the carbon atoms.Alkenes on the other hand are 'unsaturated' and therefore have double bonds between the carbon atoms.
