Solve 6/(x-3) + x/(x+4) = 1

(6(x+4) + x(x-3) )/ ((x-3)(x+4)) = 1 obtain a common denominator and write as one fraction. (6x+24+x2-3x ) /( x2-3x+4x-12) = 1 multiply out the brackets. (x2+3x+24)/ (x2+x -12)= 1 Simplify the top and bottom. x2 +3x+24 = x2+x-12 Multiply both sides by the denominator. 3x+24 = x-12 Subtract x2 from both sides. 2x+24 = -12 Subtract x from both sides. 2x = -36 Subtract 24 from both sides. x = -18 Divide both sides by 2

How do I factorise a quadratic expression with coefficient greater than 1 i.e. 2x^2 + x - 6.

A straight line passes through the point (0, 6) and is perpendicular to y = 4x - 5. Find the equation of this line, giving your answer in the form y = mx + c .

c is a positive integer. Prove that (6c^3 + 30c) / (3c^2 +15) is an even number.
