If x^2 + 2y = -14 and y = 4x + 1 , by using the quadratic formula, find the possible values for x.

First the equation for y must be substituted into the first equation to give a quadratic equation in x. Rearrange this equation so that the left-hand side equals 0. Using the quadratic formula the possible values for x can be found to be x = -4.

How do you find the next number in a given sequence?

ABC are points on a circle, centre O. AO=9cm, OC=9cm and AC=15cm. Find the angle ABC.

A circle with centre C has equation x^2 + y^2 + 2x - 6y - 40 = 0. Express as (x - a)^2 + (y - b)^2 = d.

Given that x(a+bx)(a-bx)=25x-4x^3, what is the value of b^(-a)? a,b>0
