What is the process of osmosis?

A diagram would be included.Osmosis occurs when there are two areas of water of different water potentials on different sides of a semi-permeable membrane. If one side of the membrane has a low water potential with a high concentration of sucrose, and the other side has a lower concentration of sucrose, making the water more pure giving it a higher water potential, osmosis will occur. Water will move from a high water potential to a low water potential through the semi-permeable membrane until equilibrium is reached. Equilibrium is reached when the water potentials are equal and the concentration of the sucrose solutions are equal.
