DNA helicase breaks the hydrogen bonds that bind the two strands of the DNA double helix.Free nucleotide complementary base pairs are added to the newly exposed single strands of DNA.Binding of the free nucleotides to the complementary base pairs is catalyzed by DNA polymerase.
