How can I ensure my essay stands out?

Working in timed conditions in a stressful environment can often mean that students forget the importance of developing a unique and individual response to exam questions. Yet for those seeking to achieve the highest grades it is important that students retain their individuality. Despite the pressure of time students should avoid regurgitating what they have read in study guides. Instead reading set texts multiple times and searching for specific details which have perhaps gone uncommented on by your school teacher is a far better approach. Revising these points to use as evidence to support your arguments in the exam will demonstrate to the examiner that you have thoroughly studied and prepared for the exam. Furthermore, reading quotations and continuously practicing responses will ensure that you enter the exam confident enough to produce insightful, unique responses to questions even in an exam environment. Students should also work on cultivating a good introduction, ideally one which will immediately engage the examiner’s attention. Additionally, you should remember to always devote time to planning your answers, and to utilize the PEE technique (point, evidence, explain) to help you clearly structure your response. Practicing all of these things in conjunction will help ensure you have the greatest likelihood of producing a unique response to the questions set, and which meets all the requirements of the specification.
