What is the value of x if 2X+1: 3 = 5: 9?

The product of the inside (3 and 5) and the product of the outside (2X+1 and 9) are equal to each other. Therefore 18X+9 = 15. Therefore 18X =6 and if we divide both sides by 18, we get X=1/3.
