Can you solve 18-7x < 12-3x ?

In order to solve this formula, you would need to collect similar terms to the same side and then simplify to work out the value of 'x'. We can do this by collecting all the 'x' terms to one side first, treating the less than sign or '<' as if it were an equals sign. The first thing we would do is add '7x' to both sides. This would leave us '18 <12+4x", and now we only have 'x's on one side.  The next thing we would do is get all the intergers on one side. We could do this by taking away 12 from both sides. This would leave us with '6 <4x'. Now we have separated the intergers and the 'xs', we can simplify. All we need to do now is divide both sides by 4, which would leave is with the equation '6/4 < x' or '1.5 < x'. This tells us that x is greater than 1.5.
