What is the difference between an alkene and an alkane ?

An Alkene is an unsaturated hydrocarbon, whilst an Alkane is a saturated hydrocarbon. A hydrocarbon is a compound made up of only carbon and hydrogen. A compound is unsaturated if there is one or more double bonds, and saturated if there are no double bonds.
