Solve the simultaneous equations 3x + y = 4 x + y = 2

Rearrange the second equation (or first) in terms of y (or x) y = 2-xthen subsitute into the other equation 3x + (2-x) = 4The solve for x : 2x = 2 x = 1then subsitute that value for x into any equation and then solve for y: 1 + y = 2 so y = 1
