Explain how a small release of glucagon into the body can cause a rapid increase of blood glucose

A low level of glucose in the blood will stimulate secretion of glucagon to increase the amount of glucose in the blood. Glucagon causes the liver to release stores of glycogen to be converted to glucose. this occurs via gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis. After glucose in the blood increases the amount of glucagon will decrease.
