How do you differentiate a function?

Explain why for any constant a, if y = a^x then dy/dx = a^x(ln(a))

Given that y = 16x + x^(-1), find the two values of x for which dy/dx = 0

By integrating, find the area between the curve and x axis of y = x*exp(x) between x = 0 and x = 1
