What is a box-plot diagram?

(In session I would begin by drawing a box-plot diagram and seeing if a student can also covert their data into a box-plot)There are 5 key points to a box-plot. You have the minimum value, lowest quartile, median, upper quartile and maximum value. The minimum and maximum values are the furthest points on the diagram, which connect to the central box made up of the lower and upper quartiles. The minimum value connects to the lower quartile while the maximum value connects to the upper quartile. In this box you can also find the median, a line in the box made from the quartile values. The final thing you can take off of one of these diagrams is the inter-quartile range, where you subtract the value of the lower quartile from the value of the upper quartile.
