Factorise Completely 8x^2 + 4xy

The answer is 4x(2x+y).The point of factorising is to find the common factor of the two variables in the original equation. Once we've found the common factor (4x in this instance), we bring it to the outside of the bracket. If we expand 4x(2x+y), we can see we get the original equation again.
