Differentiate the equation 4x^5 + 2x^3 - x + 2

When you differentiate you find the equation which lets you find the gradient of the equation at a specific point. To do so you multiply the power of the x by the respective coefficient, then that becomes the new coefficient, finally subtract 1 from the power. So (45)x^(5-1) + (23)x^(3-1) - (11)x^(1-1) + (20) = 20x^4 + 6x^2 -1

At x=3, is the polynomial y= (4/3)x^3 -6x^2 + 11 at a maxima or minima?

Solve simultaneously: x + y + 3 = 0 and y = 2x^2 +3x - 1

A curve has the equation: x^2(4+y) - 2y^2 = 0 Find an expression for dy/dx in terms of x and y.

Given that y=ln([2x-1/2x=1]^1/2) , show that dy/dx= (1/2x-1)-(1/2x+1)
