Write x^2 + 6x - 10 in the form ((x+a)^2)+b?

To find the value of a divide the coeffecient of x. Here this would be 6/2 which = 3. If we were to expand (x + 3)^2 + b this would give us:x^2 + 3x +3x + 3^2 +b which simplifies to x^2 + 6x + 3^2 + b. If...

Prove algebraically that n^3 +3n -1 is odd for all positive integers n

There are 2 possible cases.

First when n is even, then let n = 2k where k is a positive integer.
Substituting n = 2k gives us:
(2k)3 + 3(2k) -1
= 8k3 + 6k ...

Prove algebraically that n^3+3n^2+2n+1 is odd for all integers n

To show this we should consider when n is odd and when n is even,If n is odd then we can find an m such that n=2m+1. Substituting n=2m+1 and expanding gives 8m^3+12m^2+6m+1+12m^2+12m+3+4m+2+1=8m^3+24m^2+2...
